Seminar of Dr. Chris Freudiger (Invenio Imaging Inc., Harvard University, Cambridge, USA), 21.12.2020, online

A seminar entitled Stimulated Raman Histology (SRH) was held on 21.12.2020, during which Dr. Chris Freudiger, a former Ph.D. student of Prof. Xie from Harvard University who was personally involved in the development of the microscopy technique using Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy (SRS). Nowadays, Dr. Freudiger together with Prof. Xie, have commercialized their discoveries and formed a company that develops devices for the diagnosis of brain glioma (using SRS microscopy). The meeting was attended by members of all the groups that work together as a consortium in the Team-Net project: Faculty of Physics University of Warsaw (UW), Jagiellonian University (JU), Medical University of Lodz (MUL), Institute of Haematology and Transfusiology (IHiT, Warsaw), Institute of Physical Chemistry Polish Academy of Sciences (ICP PAS, the Group of Microfluidics and Complex Fluids and the Laser Center, Warsaw). The meeting was organized by the research group from the University of Warsaw, led by Prof. Wasylczyk, and took place remotely via the Google Meetings platform.

Workshop: KMC analysis, 28.10.2020, online

On 28.10.2020, an online meeting took place, which was focused on one of the chemometric methods, such as cluster analysis (CA). In the Team-Net project, CA is used to analyze the obtained Raman maps of single leukaemic and normal cells. The meeting was attended by diploma students, Ms. Agnieszka, Ms. Kinga and Ms. Maja, and interns, Ms. Sviatlana and Ms. Patrycja, who work in our Team. The meeting was organized as part of the Team Net project and was led by members of the Team, Ada, Ola, Ania. Ada talked about the theoretical basis of cluster analysis and discussed the differences between non-hierarchical and hierarchical cluster analysis. Ola explained how to interpret the results and what to pay attention to during the analysis. Ania showed how to analyze Raman maps of single cells using Witec Project Plus software. The meeting was organized in the form of an online workshop (via Microsoft Teams platform).

Workshop for Students: Bibliography management, 21.10.2020, online

On 21.10.2020, a meeting was held for diploma students, Ms. Agnieszka, Ms. Kinga and Ms. Maja, and interns, Ms. Sviatlana and Ms. Patrycja, who work in our Team under Team-Net project, aimed at introducing methods focused on the preparation of theses and management of bibliography, as well as ways of effective searching of scientific literature. The meeting was organized as part of the Team Net project and was led by Team members Ola, Ania and Ada. Ola talked about effective work in Microsoft Word and preparing a thesis project. Ania talked about Mendeley software and showed how to manage a scientific bibliography. Ada showed the easiest way to search for the literature items on the topics of interest and how to manage notifications of the latest literature reports on a given subject. The meeting was organized in the form of an online workshop and a discussion (via Microsoft Teams platform).

BioSpec Digital Summer School 2020

BioSpec Digital Summer School 2020

Our doctoral students took part in the summer school organized by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

In the frame of the Team-Net project on 15-20th June 2020, our doctoral students, Aleksandra Dorosz and Adriana Filipek took part in the summer school organized remotely, entitled "BioSpec Digital Summer School 2020" by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. During workshops, Ada and Ola expanded their knowledge in the field of cell biology, machine learning, the basics of IR spectroscopy and imaging, and pre-processing of spectra. They also used programs Orange and Quasar for the application of advanced chemometrics methods in the analysis of spectral data.
