We are looking for candidates for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in project “Blood-brain barrier: A 3D cell model and its functionality assessed by a multimodal molecular platform”

Prof. Kamilla Malek (Raman Imaging Group, Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University) is looking for candidates for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work in the field of IR/Raman spectroscopy, biological samples, chemometric analysis in the project funded by the National Centre of Science (NCN): “Blood-brain barrier: A 3D cell model and its functionality assessed by a multimodal molecular platform”.

Below you can find some details about the Postdoctoral Researcher position, more information here (Euraxess, English version) and here (NCN, Polish version).

 

We offer:

- a salary in accordance with the NCN rules (10 000 PLN gross-gross/month);

- a full-time contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension to 42 months.

 

Main responsibilities:

- to carry out experiments based on the spectroscopic methods (Raman, FTIR and fluorescence microscopy), including the technical settings of experiments, coordination of lab work and collaboration with students; 

- cooperation with MIM in terms of sample preparation and their handling, correlation of biological and spectroscopic properties of the BBB models;

- statistical and chemometric analysis of spectral data;

- preparation of cyclic reports;

- managing the experimental work with students;

- preparation of drafts of scientific publications.

 

General requirements include:

- holding a doctoral degree (awarded up to 7 years before 2022) in chemistry, physics, biology, and related sciences awarded in an institution different than the Jagiellonian University (except proven at least 10-month post-doc position in an institution different than JU);

- having relevant scientific achievements, including publications in the internationally recognised scientific journals;

- ability to plan and perform experiments and analysis with the use of vibrational spectroscopic methods, preferably imaging techniques;

- having experience in molecular spectroscopy, preferentially with biological and medical applications;

- fluent English in speech and writing; - active part in scientific life, including active participation in scientific conferences;

- with preferred experience in participation or leading interdisciplinary research.

10. Opinion of the head of department or academic tutor on candidate’s suitability and qualifications for research and teaching classes – including results of students’ questionnaires, if a candidate was assessed in this manner,

11. Declaration of the candidate, confirming that the Jagiellonian University will be their primary place of work, should they be selected in the competitive selection process*,

12. Declaration under Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science*,

13. Declaration on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University*
