2018

2018

On 9th to 10th of December we hosted Prof. Yukihiro Ozaki. On 10th of December he gave us a lecture: "Anharmonicity and NIR spectroscopy".

Malgosia recived the Rector's Award for the highest score in the student's assessment of didactic classes in 2017/2018 at Faculty of Chemistry JU.
Congratulations!

The National Science Center has decided the next edition of OPUS and PRELUDIUM contest. In the group that received financial support were projects of people from our Team:
Malgosia, OPUS entitled: RS-SRS-MED: Spontaneous and stimulated Raman scattering microscopy for sensitive and ultrafast imaging of cells upon development of life style diseases, (abstract).
Monika, PRELUDIUM entitled: Spectroscopic analysis and chiroptical studies of supramolecular assemblies: biologically important aggregates and model systems, (abstract).
Congratulations!

Autumn Seminar of Raman Imaging Group took place in Zakopane from 9th to 10th of November 2018. In addition to the fascinating scientific discussions, for the sake of the health of participants, one of the elements of the seminar was the the hiking to Zelené pleso Kežmarské in Slovakia and Morskie Oko in Poland.

We would like to congratulate Kamilla for receiving the Pro Arte Docendi award. The award is granted to outstanding academic teachers employed at the Jagiellonian University for the high quality of didactic work, in particular for mastery in knowledge transfer, excellent relations and results of work with students, introducing innovative solutions in the field of education and application in practice, innovative methods and measures, consistent with the indications of modern academic didactics.

Congratulations to Kasia Majzner and Marta Pacia for obtaining a scholarship for outstanding young scientists awarded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of submitted applications, by means of a competition. This year 1129 applications were submitted, and 181 outstanding scholarships were awarded to young researchers.

Marta won the Polish Chemical Society Award for her doctoral dissertation. The award ceremony took place during the 61st PTChem Congress at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University.

On July 18-19, Professor Peter Gilch from Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf was a guest of ZOR. Professor Glich is a specialist in nonlineat techniques of Raman stimulated techniques. Lecture, delivered by prof. Gilch in Krakow was titled Femtosecond Stimulated Raman Microscopy (FSRM) - Status and Perspectives.

Between 10th and 15th of June 2018 in Glasgow took place SPEC 2018 conference, which Raman Imaging Group couldn't miss. On the photo with the Head of the Organizing Committee, the true Scotsman, dr. Matthew Baker.

On 14th to 25th of May, 2018, Ewa has done a fortnightly internship in the group of prof. Agnieszka Szumna at Institute of Organic Chemistry PAS (Warsaw). The purpose of this internship was learning how to synthesize molecular systems exhibit chirality. In order to examine the properties of the obtained systems, she performed nuclear magnetic resonance measurements (NMR).

Karolina Augustyniak – a bachelor student working in our Group on the diagnosis of early metastasis of breast cancer via FTIR imaging was awarded the Main Award for oral presentation at the conference Horizons of Science 2018.
Congratulations!

Agnieszka's B.Sc. student, Gosia Szulczewska, won the prize of "Bratniak" Foundation for Students and Alumni for the poster presentation entitled Study of chemical changes in human valvular interstitial cells presented during the Horizons of Science Forum of Diploma Papers, which took place on 22-23th of May 2018 in Krakow.
Congratulations!

On 12th May ZOR team participated in the charity run "BohateRun". The event was a part of the JU Open Day on Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival. Pictures from this event can be found here.

On April 25th, Dr Michał Nejbauer from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences came to us from Warsaw. Dr Nejbauer discussed with us the topic of non-linear techniques of Raman spectroscopy, and his lecture was also devoted to this subject.

Patrycja, a student who performs diploma thesis in our team has been qualified for summer practice at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, where she will be able to broaden her scientific horizons.
Congratulations!

On 21th April ZOR team participated in the charity run 13th Piotr Gładki Mini Cracovia Marathon, pictures from this event can be found here.

On 17th-19th April, Professor Cristiano Zonta from the University of Padova visited us. Prof. Zonta gave a lecture entitled Self-Assembled Metal-Ligand Supramolecular Architectures: From Chirality Sensing to Molecular Confinement and discussed with us about supramolecular chiral systems.

On march 28th Easter Meeting of Raman Imaging Group took place. We send best Easter wishes to all Friends of our Team!

On 19-26th of February, we hosted Dr. Mika Ishigaki from the Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. She gave a lecture about NIR imaging of biological samples.

On 11th to 26th of January 2018 Aneta has done a short internship in the group of prof. Olivier Piot na University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (France). Under the supervision of prof. Ganesh Sockalingum, she has learnt spectroscopic data analysis using advanced chemometric methods.

On 10th to 31st of January 2018 Ewa has done a short internship in the group of prof. Christian Johannessen at University of Antwerp (Belgium). During her stay in Antwerp, Ewa learnt and performed measurements of biological compounds by means of vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy (VCD).

Rafaella Ferreira Fernandes-PhD canidate from Brasil, had been working with us from April 2017 to January 2018. Rafaella has been awarded a scholarship from the CAPES Foundation, an agency under the Ministry of Education of Brazil, in order to conduct part of his doctoral research as a Visiting Student in the Raman Imaging Group. Her proposal involves the use of Raman spectroscopy as a powerful tool to investigate biological systems since the identification of specific molecules has significantly improved the understanding of important biochemical processes. We wish her further successes!

In 3rd edition of Valentine's Run (February 11th) our ZOR team complete 5 km race and improve their individual records. Congrats!

January 14th. ZOR Team (Malgosia, Agnieszka, Ada and Dominika) takes part in the Run of Great Hearts of the Christmas Charity Orchestra. We do help!
